PLACE TO BE : THE CHELSEA HOTEL

If you switch on my pc, you will find this picture as screen saver:

- e pure io...

This is the Chelsea Hotel, the historic red brick hotel built in 1883 witness to tragedies, murders and home and inspiration for genius and artists.
Although the room number 100 is gone, the pilgrims of punk - and the curious like me - continue to talk and ask about the room where the love story between Sex Pistols'Sid & Nancy ended in a bloody way. Room 822 was the favourite of Madonna, while downstairs Bob Dylan was
strumming. Even Jack Kerouac and William Burrughs drove here to visit Herbert Hunke, the thief who inspired The Scream by Allen Ginsberg.

I will always remember you, Chelsea Hotel, and not only thanks to the songs, the paintings, movies, novels and poems and everything you have been able to inspire... but it will be because you are a magical place where I loved to stay and accomodate, before debts and maintenance costs bringing you to the financial ruin and transforming into a place of luxury residences.

I can only say that we all passed, the Chelsea Hotel - here Arthur C. Clarke wrote "2001: A Space Odyssey", Andy Warhol set "Chelsea Girl", Joni Mitchell wrote "Chelsea Morning" which did fall in love Bill and Hillary Clinton (daughter's name is not a coincidence!) - and also I...
